The Finnish Reservists’ Association (FRA) is the national organization for over 350 local associations representing approximately 35.000 members. The majority of the membership is made up of military reservists of all ranks, but in many of the associations also other Finnish citizens, male as well as female, can participate. The main purpose of FRA is to contribute to the strengthening of the national defense will.
This is carried out by supporting the local associations in their work aiming at raising the defense ability and spirit of their members, extending defense information to the public etc.

FRA is a politically unaligned national defense organization. It concentrates on voluntary national defense activities. It organizes together with the defense forces voluntary defense training and other activities for members of the so-called local detachments as well as for other persons who express a willingness to participate. In sports and physical exercise the emphasis is on developing military skills by terrain exercises and shooting practice.

FRA co-operates with The Finnish Reserve Officers' Federation and The Association of National Defense Guilds. FRA was founded in 1955 and until 1995 it was called The Association of Finnish Reserve NCOs.
